The Imo state film academy has collapsed just days after it was commissioned by the state's Governor Rochas Okorocha who also donated the sum of N100 Million Naira.
The academy headed by Actress Nkiru Sylvanus, was said to have collapsed due to the use of below standard materials.
Speaking on the incident, the state's commissioner of information, Engineer Chidi Ibe denied that the collapse was as a result of substandard materials but was as a result of an accident.
“There was nothing like collapsed building. It was a trailer carrying a heavy generator and while trying to drop the equipment behind the Film Academy, one of the trailer’s tyres pulled and the trailer fell on the building. The impact of the trailer’s fall led to the collapse of the building.”
